What you do in Auli depends on the season. Winter is for skiing and snow play on about 20 km of slopes; spring and summer are for walks to Gorson Bugyal and longer treks like Kuari Pass. In any season you can watch sunrise over Nanda Devi and visit the temples of Jyotirmath below.

Skiing in Auli: what to know

Auli's slopes run from about 3,050 m down to 2,900 m and are used for cross-country, slalom and downhill skiing. A 500 m ski lift and an 800 m chair lift connect the upper and lower slopes, and the snow is groomed with machines during the season.

  • Courses run from January to March; batches fill early.
  • You need to be reasonably fit. Under-18s need age and student proof for GMVN courses.
  • Snow depth changes every year. Check conditions before you go.
