About us

An independent guide to the places, treks, temples and yatras of Uttarakhand.

Travel in Uttarakhand is an independent travel guide to Uttarakhand, the Himalayan state often called Devbhoomi, the land of the gods. We write clear, practical guides to its hill stations, treks, temples, yatras, lakes and villages, so you can plan a trip without digging through dozens of sources.

What you'll find here

Every place has its own guide, split into short pages that each answer one question:

  • Best time to visit: month-by-month weather, snow and crowds
  • How to reach: by bus, train, air and road, with distances and travel times
  • Things to do, food and markets: what the place is known for, and local dishes worth asking for
  • Where to stay and itineraries: which area suits you, and how many days to plan
  • Permits and registration: shown clearly wherever a permit or registration is needed

Guides are organised by Uttarakhand's 13 districts across Garhwal and Kumaon, so you can also explore what is near a place you already plan to visit.

What we don't do

We don't sell trips, take bookings or accept paid placements. Nothing on this site is an advertisement, and no business pays to be mentioned. Our only aim is to give you accurate information.

How we work

We check road, permit, opening and season details against official sources such as the Uttarakhand government, district administrations, the India Meteorological Department and forest departments. Each page shows when it was last updated. Read our editorial policy to see how we research and correct our guides.
