Robber's Cave, known locally as Guchhupani, is a narrow river gorge near Anarwala village, about 8 km north of the Clock Tower in Dehradun district. A cold stream has cut a deep, winding passage through conglomerate rock, and the walls rise so high that in places they almost meet overhead. The cave is about 600 m long and is split into two parts.
There is no path inside: you walk in the stream, usually ankle to knee deep, to a small waterfall of about 10 m at the far end. On the way the water disappears under the gravel and comes up again a few metres ahead, which is how the place got its local name. The English name comes from stories that robbers hid here with their loot during British times.
