Route to Robber's Cave at a glance
The last stretch passes through Anarwala village and narrow lanes. On busy weekends, parking near the entrance fills up early.
From Dehradun by cab or auto
Robber's Cave is about 8 km north of the Clock Tower, past Anarwala village. Cabs, app taxis and autos go right up to the entrance area.
- Fix a return time with your auto or cab; few wait at the cave in the evening.
- Go before 10 am on weekends.
By local bus
Local buses run from the city to Anarwala village (the Vijaypur side). Get off at the last stop and walk about 1 km through the village to the cave entrance.
- Ask locals for the lane to Guchhupani; everyone knows it.
- Buses get crowded at school and office hours.
From Delhi, by train or air
From Delhi, take the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway (about 210 km) to Dehradun. The nearest railway station is Dehradun (DDN), about 9 km from the cave, and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun. From either, take a cab to Robber's Cave.
From Mussoorie
Drive down the Mussoorie road towards Dehradun and turn off towards Malsi and Anarwala before the city centre. It makes an easy half-day trip from Mussoorie.
- Avoid the hill road after dark in the monsoon.
